Jaclyn MacLean
Student Therapist - MACP (IN PROGRESS) Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
After a decade in high-stress corporate roles, I found myself questioning if that was all life had to offer. I’ve always been the friend who listens, but it was personal experience with mental health that showed me the profound impact of therapy. As a mother and multi-tasker, I understand how overwhelming life can get. I’m passionate about supporting women, especially mothers – through burnout, identity shifts, and the relentless demands of parenting. I believe healing comes from both hard work and learning to rest. My goal is to help others find clarity, peace, and a renewed sense of self in their busy lives.

My goal is to help you find strength and clarity on your journey to well-being and bouncing back!

We can connect virtually or in person
Whether you’re near or far, I can help you bounce back. We can meet in-person in a calming, quiet environment in our newly renovated office space in Dundas, Ontario. We can also meet conveniently online or via telephone, giving you more flexibility to choose a time and place that works for you and your busy schedule.

Working with me
Working with me means stepping into a space where every part of you is welcome – especially the parts that feel heavy, dark, or uncertain. I believe showing up is an act of courage and self-compassion, and together we’ll do the hard, honest work it takes to heal. In my office, failure is never final – it’s simply part of the process, and we’ll face it together until you feel like yourself again, or maybe even better.
Worth mentioning
As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!
With a person centered approach, I will be nonjudgmental, empathetic and deeply respectful of your experience. If you’re feeling lost, disconnected, or unsure of who you are right now – we will figure it out togetherÂ
Change is hard – but I’m not afraid to go there with you. Growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone, and I’ll help you stretch – without breaking
This isn’t just about symptom relief – it’s about rediscovering who you are beneath the stress, struggle, or self-doubt. With my guidance, you’ll not only heal, but evolve – finding clarity, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose as you reclaim your voice and values.
What does a session with me look like?
My sessions are collaborative and open, but always action oriented. You will be given time and space to reflect and share, but when it comes time to learn, I hope you are ready to roll up your sleeves; I will be too. I encourage clients to bring a notebook, so we can keep track of all the powerful learnings and can use it to reflect on our growth over time. Be ready to put yourself in other people’s shoes, experiment with techniques that will feel uncomfortable in the moment but powerful in the future.Â

My approach
My approach to therapy is rooted in mindfulness and incorporates modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solutions Focused Therapy & Narrative Therapy techniques based on your needs and goals. I use a strengths based approach through a person centered lens that puts you at the center of all of our techniques. I approach each client with an awareness of the impact of trauma, and use trauma informed approaches to navigate helping you meet your goals.Â
Person-Centered Therapy
I prioritize creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to be fully themselves. This approach trusts in each person’s innate capacity for growth and healing when met with empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
I help clients identify their strengths and build on what’s already working. By focusing on small, achievable steps forward, we can create meaningful change without getting stuck in the problem.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
I incorporate DBT tools to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.Â
Trauma-Informed Care
I approach every client with an awareness of how trauma – past or present, may shape their experiences. Safety, choice, and empowerment guide the work I do, allowing for healing without re-traumatization.
