Hello there! I am Jeff and I am a student therapist with an RP (Qualifying). I have always had a passion for helping individuals throughout my entire life and that is how I ended up in the field of psychotherapy. Previous to entering the psychotherapy field, I worked with children with autism as a behavioural therapist which was very fulfilling work, however I wanted to be able to support my clients on a deeper level.

My approach

I like to utilize a client-centered approach with my clients. I believe that each client is the expert of their own life and that I am simply here to help in facilitating your own exploration, growth and healing. I like to use a collaborative and empowering approach that respects your autonomy an inherent capacity for self-understanding and change. I will bring empathy and genuineness to each session to foster trust and rapport. When working with me we will work collaboratively to decipher what tools and strategies will work best for you to fulfil your goals and emotional needs!

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

This approach focuses on identifying negative thought patterns and behaviours and bringing them into the awareness of clients. CBT is based on the idea that thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all interrelated and changing one of these domains can affect the others.

Person-Centered Therapy

This orientation puts the client at the center of therapy to create a supportive and non-judgemental environment, so clients can explore their own thoughts and feelings. This approach focuses on the principles of empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard towards the client.

Solution Focused Therapy

This therapy is one that is goal-oriented and focuses on identifying and building on a client’s existing strengths and using them as a resource to achieve their treatment goals. SFT tries to find practical solutions to issues in the client’s lives rather than focusing on past issues.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a therapy where clients accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fight them or feel guilty about them. Mindfulness strategies are usually incorporated in this therapy and it encourages clients to commit to behaviour change techniques so they can live in accordance to their values and improve their psychological flexibility.
