Hi! I am Mackenzie. I always knew that I was going to enter into a career that was of a helping nature, however, I wasn’t quite sure of the specifics. After some trials and tribulations, I finally decided to commit to a career as a psychotherapist and as they say “the rest is history!”.
I have a keen interest in modalities that will provide you with tangible skills for your toolbelt such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Working with me
Therapy is a process that takes time. My goal is to provide an authentic and safe space in which you feel confident in sharing your story with me. I want to ensure that when you leave a session you have learned something new that you can apply to your daily life.
Worth mentioning
As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!
Being authentic means that we will work together in a genuine, transparent relationship where we are both true to ourselves, fostering trust and deeper emotional exploration. This authenticity helps create a safe space for you to express your true thoughts and feelings, leading to more effective therapy.
What works for one person may not work for another. When working with me, I will adapt the session so it best suits your needs at the moment.
I strive to maintain a professional but personable relationship with all my clients.
What does a session with me look like?
I value authenticity and I understand that no person is the same. Because of this, I am committed to understanding who you are, how you learn, and what drives you towards success so that I can tailor the sessions to your needs. When you work with me, I promise to provide a warm, welcoming, and authentic environment that makes you feel comfortable bringing your true self.

My approach
Health and wellbeing is holistic and needs to be individually tailored. In my approach to therapy we will examine all aspects of the client’s life to better understand the biological, psychological, and social factors that may be impacting their mental health. I want clients to feel as though they are learning new skills that will eventually give them the ability to become their own therapist.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. CBT operates on the principle that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and by altering distorted or unhelpful thinking, individuals can change their emotional responses and behaviors. In therapy, clients learn to recognize and challenge cognitive distortions, develop healthier thinking patterns, and practice new behaviors through various techniques.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Solution-focused brief therapy is effective for clients seeking short-term, goal-oriented counselling. SFBT encourages clients to envision their desired future and identify the strengths, resources, and past successes that can help them achieve their goals. I would work collaboratively with the client to develop specific, actionable steps toward their preferred outcome, often asking questions like, “What will be different when this problem is solved?”.
Integrative Approach
I combine techniques and theories from various psychological schools of thought to create a tailored treatment plan that addresses the client’s specific needs. Instead of sticking to a single modality, I will draw on different methods while valuing flexibility and the holistic understanding of the client, aiming to address emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and relational aspects of their experience.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy is a therapeutic approach that recognizes and understands the widespread impact of trauma on an individual’s mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It prioritizes creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel empowered and respected throughout the therapeutic process.
