MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Samantha Dyment

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I'm a student therapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) here at Rebound Total Health. My experience with significant health challenges in the past has shaped the empathy, purpose, and  intentions I have to support others in building self-confidence and overcoming personalized challenges. My initial exposure to the mental health field, combined with growing up in various competitive academic, occupational, and athletic environments, has facilitated a deeper insight into the dynamics of human behaviour and a devoted interest to understand the powers of our psyche. Working in numerous social service settings has enhanced my confidence while approaching the individualized needs of others, employing different ways to help people overcome interpersonal challenges and meet their goals.

Overall, no matter the person, I want to bring ease and comfort to your experience in therapy. I am motivated to help you develop self-awareness and build effective, tailored strategies in your life that bring strength to your experiential exposure and your intentions for the future. I will always centralize the importance of being your advocate and look forward to supporting you every step of the way!

A life where you feel confident is possible. You don’t have to continue being overcome by your struggles and you definitely don’t have to do it alone.

Working With Me

I am a highly passionate and engaged counsellor who will collaboratively work with you to learn about what supports and hinders your success and perspective life happiness. I look forward to learning more about what propels you forward and what is currently causing you distress, to establish a clear line of understanding between both of our roles and the ways in which we can support your goals for the future. I want you to leave a session with me feeling heard and supported in your therapeutic process.

Worth Mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

  1. Collaborative Approach: I value your input and believe that therapy is a collaborative process. We will work together to create a tailored treatment plan that suits your specific needs and goals. Your preferences, interests, and feedback will guide our sessions, ensuring that you feel empowered and actively engaged in your therapeutic journey. I want you to feel confident in our team dynamic and will dedicate intentional effort towards facilitating that for you throughout the counselling relationship.

  2. Flexibility: I understand that what might work for one person might not for another. Thus, adaptability is crucial to my approach while cultivating a supportive relationship and effective treatment plan that speaks to your needs and therapeutic objectives. Whether it's scheduling appointments, choosing session formats, or exploring specific topics that are important to you, I am committed to finding the approach that works best for your individual journey.

  3. Authenticity: I genuinely care about your well-being and want to provide a safe and supportive space for you to express yourself. My empathy and non-judgmental stance in our sessions will be the foundation to helping build your sense of safety in our connection. Through active participation and offering compassionate guidance, I hope to form a bond that helps you feel heard, understood, and validated. I want you to feel you can trust that I will be there for you, offering encouragement, and a listening ear whenever you need it.

What does a session with me look like?

I will prioritize the overarching goals you have for therapy throughout our relationship but will adapt and evolve my approach as time goes on to speak best to the dynamics you bring forward in each session. Ultimately, this adaptability will help maintain an effective and engaging atmosphere no matter the stage you are at in your recovery and overall healing process. I am transparent in understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to supporting human relationships. Thus, through a free 15-minute consultation, I can answer questions and address your hesitations or concerns while gaining a deeper insight into the individualized characteristics you bring to the table. Each day brings different challenges, and I am here to listen and work through each of them with you, rain or shine. I want to be your advocate and look forward to finding out the different ways to do so across your life dimensions!

My Approach

I am confident employing different theoretical modalities to meet your personalized goals, including CBT, client-centered, psychoanalytic, and integrative approaches to care. Understanding that everyone brings something different to the table, depending on the individual, each modality provides different levels of structure to meet your needs. Thus, to support the effectiveness of your treatment plan, I integrate theoretical flexibility to speak best to your specific personality traits and therapeutic intentions. I look forward to finding what fits you best and helping you build the life you envision!

Integrative Approach

Through facilitating a holistic approach, I aim to support your desired therapy goals, by integrating different techniques and strategies from various theoretical frameworks. Drawing from narrative and solution focused therapies, I will tailor my approach to meeting your needs through personalized care plans and engaging collaboratively to find what works best for you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

To gain a better understanding of how your thoughts, emotions, and behavior interact, is something I will centralize while addressing how these interactions keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns or negative thinking feedback loops. Additionally, while examining and challenging your core beliefs about self, others, and the world, will help broaden your openness and appreciation for the different ways to invoke positive change.

Psychoanalytic

Through addressing the unconscious, conscious and subconscious intentions that facilitate our thoughts and behaviours, I will help bring to light some of the hindering mechanisms at play within your life that are causing you difficulty. While supporting your developed understanding of self, and the self-limiting patterns impacting your progress, I will support you in healing from your past experiences that led to the current dysfunction. Through free-flowing dialogue, we will build a therapeutic connection and understanding of the ever evolving needs you have while working through past trauma exposure to support your future influence on others and yourself.

Client-Centered

This humanistic approach centers around the client's inherent capacity for growth and self-healing. The therapist provides a supportive, empathetic, and non-directive environment, allowing clients to explore their feelings and thoughts openly, ultimately leading to self-discovery and personal growth.
