MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Sara

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi! I’m Sara (she/her/hers). I’m a student therapist and registered psychotherapist (qualifying) at Rebound Total Health. I’ve always been drawn to the helping profession and, after university, found joy in teaching. My journey into psychotherapy began after spending a decade with my children as a stay-at-home parent, when I started to feel like my life was at a crossroads. Psychotherapy taught me how to find balance in my life and I am thrilled to help others do the same. We live in a state of flux, often dodging some hefty curve balls. My passion is to support clients as they navigate life’s ebbs and flows

Sessions with me go beyond just talking. We take the time to explore and lean into both your mind and body. We'll find techniques that help you reduce your symptoms, and cater the agenda of each session to what you actually need and want out of session.

Working With Me

When you first sit down with me, I want you to feel comfortable, safe, and heard. Together we will navigate different areas of your life, and I want you to feel like I am going through it with you—like you are not alone. At the end of the session, I want you to feel lighter, and with more tools to support your journey.

Worth Mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for therapy, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

Kindness & Understanding:
I want you to feel supported and heard.

Non-judgemental: anything goes, I want you to feel comfortable sharing anything and everything.

Reliable: You can count on me to come prepared, with knowledge and training, to every session.

What does a session with me look like?

I like to make our sessions client focused. That means that sessions are tailored to your style—some people like structured sessions and some enjoy free-style exploration; some prefer home activities and some do not. I want you to leave our session feeling like a weight has been lifted and that you’re one step close to achieving your goal, whatever that may be.

My Approach

When we begin our session, you can expect some light banter to get us warmed up before beginning to explore your main concerns. After identifying a goal for the session, I like to delve in and explore some of the emotions, past experiences, and patterns that are at play. Through this exploration, you can expect some self-discovery and clarity. Then, we will go through a carefully chosen activity that targets your area of concern. I like to finish the session by giving you something to take away with you, whether it be a tool to add to your toolbox or a thought to carry with you until the next session.

Client- Centered

In this approach, the client is in charge, inherently containing capacity for growth and self-healing. I will be there to empathetically support you, allowing for self-discovery and personal growth.

Attachment-based

Our childhood relationships impact all future relationships. This can cause patterns or struggles in our adult relationships, resulting in poor coping techniques, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal issues. Understanding your attachment style can help reduce symptoms and improve relationships.

Narrative Therapy

The story we tell ourselves about our lives has great power over how we act and think. By separating yourself from the problem, you can find ways to overcome it.  This gives you the power to re-write your story, allowing you to live your best and fullest life.

Strength-based

Discovering strengths and moments of resiliency can help you navigate and weather challenging times. Using positivity and empowerment, exploring your personal strengths can instill hope and motivate positive changes in your life.
