MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Sarah Stockall

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi there! I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and independent contractor here at Rebound Total Health. In my past life before becoming a therapist, I was in a soul-sucking career where I felt burnt out and unfulfilled. I was also suffering from a pelvic pain condition that made me feel disconnected from myself and others. I had a feeling there must be more to this thing called life, and that’s when I started my journey toward healing through therapy!

I have always been curious about people and understanding the “why” behind their patterns and behaviours. I love to build meaningful connections with others by going deep and holding space for their stories and authentic emotions (she doesn’t really do small talk, aha!) My intuition told me I could transform my pain into power and help others along the way. I’m so glad I listened to that gut feeling and decided to pursue a career as a therapist. I believe my curiosity, compassionate nature, and lived experiences make me equipped to help others overcome any struggles that are stopping them from living a fulfilling life!

I'll be your teammate as we work towards becoming the best version of you.

Working With Me

My hope is that clients who work with me feel like they have a trusted confidant in their corner who will treat them with compassion but also challenge them to shift their patterns and make positive changes! I strive to create a safe and comfortable environment where clients will leave a session feeling validated, supported, and energized to live a more meaningful life.

Worth Mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

  1. Warm & Approachable: I get feedback from my clients that I have a very warm and approachable presence that makes them feel safe and at ease. I have a very down-to-earth and non-judgmental attitude that makes people feel like they can open up and share whatever is on their mind and heart.

  2. Identifying Patterns: I envision myself as a detective who is really good at uncovering patterns in your thoughts and behaviour. I love helping clients have those “aha” moments when they finally realize why they feel or behave in a certain way. With a deeper level of self-awareness, you will be better equipped to get unstuck from those patterns and live a life that is more aligned with the person you want to be.

  3. Holistic Approach: I believe that our personal issues are interconnected, so I take a very holistic approach that considers all parts of you. I will ask you questions about your physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health in order to get to the root of your suffering and provide comprehrensive solutions.

What does a session with me look like?

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so each session will be tailored to your unique experiences and goals! I typically like to start with a check-in at the beginning of a session where you can expect to feel my genuine warmth and curiosity to get to know you better. From there, we would most likely set an agenda of what you would like to focus on in that session so you can get the most out of your experience. I am also fascinated by the connection between the mind, body, and spirit, so you can expect some mindfulness and body-based exercises to deepen that mind-body connection! I will laugh with you, cry with you, and meet you wherever you are - without judgment.

My Approach

I pride myself on taking a very integrative and holistic approach that is flexible to meet each client’s unique experiences and needs. That means I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities to figure out what will work best for you (and I am very open to feedback as we go). My approach is grounded in compassion and curiosity to get to know all parts of you, without judgement. I have an approachable and down-to-earth personality, and I am here to accept you for whoever you show up as at each session. My goal as a therapist is to be like a mirror and reflect things back to you that will deepen your levels of self-awareness and empower you to live a more meaningful life!

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

An approach that helps us to accept our thoughts and emotions, instead of judging or repressing them. It involves figuring out what we value most in life and checking in to see if our behaviours are in line with the person we want to be.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) or Parts-Work

Perhaps you have noticed that different parts or versions of yourself show up in certain situations in your life. This approach believes that our reactions and emotions are actually parts that serve to protect us from feeling the deeper, wounded, and often unresolved parts. IFS believes there are “no bad parts” and helps us to become more compassionate toward all parts of ourselves throughout the profound healing that can take place.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Through exploring the type of attachments we had with our childhood caregivers, we can better understand why we show up the way we do in our relationships as adults. By using attachment theory as a framework, we can work on developing more secure attachments with others and fostering healthier and more meaningful relationships.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is brain-body therapy for trauma that can help people feel "unstuck" and give them a sense of emotional and physical release from things they might be holding on to. Brainspotting involves utilizing different eye positions to identify “brain spots” where traumatic experiences and challenging emotions can be accessed and processed with the help of an attuned therapist.
