Working With Me

Clients working with me can anticipate feeling supported, safe, and empowered to embrace their authentic selves. Through collaborative efforts, we navigate strategies aimed at enhancing coping mechanisms and fostering a sense of groundedness, facilitating the attainment of their desired objectives.

Worth Mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!
Flexibility – I aim to make you feel comfortable and want to adjust sessions to fit your learning style, cultural views and experiences. I am happy to adjust to find a therapeutic orientation that works for you as an individual.

Grounded I have received feedback from clients and coworkers that they feel more settled after talking with me as I offer validation, active listening and reframing of situations.

Respectful - I want to learn about you and approach sessions with curiosity and understanding of who you are, what your goals are, and what experiences have developed you as a person.

What does a session with me look like?

In our initial session, my focus is on gaining insight into your background and understanding the why behind seeking therapeutic support. My Approach

I want you to feel open to share thus I like to create a warm and welcoming space for people from varying backgrounds including age, race, sexuality and ability. I want to know what you need to feel comfortable and present with a down-to-earth approach.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

It is a well-researched approach that looks at how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours affect and interact with each other. We will look at how to catch and change these thoughts and create healthy coping tools.

Attachment Therapy:

Looking at how our relationships with those who cared for us as babies / children affect how we form and connect in relationships as adults.

Humanistic:

Takes into account that you are the expert in your own life and how you see the world will influence your decisions. I aim to provide guidance and support without interpreting the client’s feelings.

Trauma-Informed Therapy:

Examining how trauma has an effect on our behaviours and choices. In a nonjudgmental approach, we will look to increase confidence and feelings of control.
