MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Vanshika

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hello! My name is Vanshika and I am a student therapist with an RP- (Qualifying) status. I am receiving my masters in counseling psychology from Yorkville University and have been working with the healthcare field for multiple years. I have plenty of experience working with mental health and well-being in families and individuals. While working for a university, I was able to gain experience with anxiety, depression, ADHD and other common mental health challenges. When working with clients, I use various evidence based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, person-centered therapy and solution-focused therapy. I look forward to helping you reach your mental health goals and accompanying you on this journey.

I aim to provide compassionate guidance with an empathetic approach to empower your emotional healing.

Worth Mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!
1.
Flexibility. All people are different and deserve to have an individualized treatment plan. Together, we can figure out what works for you and use the approach that resonates the most. We can work together virtually or in-person depending on your schedule.

2.     Mixed Modalities: During therapy we can work through mixed modalities to understand what suits you best. We can integrate different approaches to create an individualized approach that addresses your concerns.

3.     Authenticity: When working with you, I bring my most authentic self and hope you feel comfortable to do the same. I try to create a safe space where we can both be ourselves and work in a non-judgement environment.

What does a session with me look like?

Sessions with me will focus on a person-centred approach that should leave you feeling heard and understood. The session should provide a warm and non-judemental environment where your experiences and feelings take the stage. The therapeutic process can be difficult and demanding, however I want to make this process eye-opening and comfortable. My goals is to create a positive therapeutic alliance that will create a welcoming environment to help you address your concerns.

When using a cognitive behavioural therapy we focus on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and irrational beliefs. We would work collaboratively to develop coping strategies and reframe destructive thinking. This form of therapy teaches practical skills and empowers positive behavioural change.

Humanistic

Self-exploration, personal growth and potential are addressed in this approach using empathy, unconditional positive regard and genuine understanding. Clients are encourages to explore their emotions, values and beliefs to overcome obstacles and increase self-esteem.

Psychodynamic

This approach explores the unconscious thoughts and feelings that influence our subconscious adult behaviours. With this approach we aim to bring repressed feelings and unresolved conflicts into conscious awareness to allow you to gain insight on your emotions and behaviours.

Solution-Focused

Solution-focused therapy is a goal-oriented approach that emphazies identifying and enhancing strengths to enforce positive change.
