Career Coaching

Online ADHD Therapy Therapy for Self Esteem
Are you thinking about quitting your job? Wondering whether you should accept that promotion? Trying to find a career that actually feels like a good fit?
You don’t have to navigate these decisions alone. Career coaching at Rebound Total Health gives you a space to slow down, sort through your options, and figure out what actually makes sense for you.
What is career counselling

What is career coaching?

Career coaching can help you explore your interests, strengths, skills, values, and goals so you can make career decisions that align with what matters to you.
Maybe you know exactly what you want but have no idea how to get there. Maybe you have too many options and can’t decide. Or you might not know what step to take next at all.

Career coaching isn’t about someone else choosing your future for you. It’s about helping you better understand yourself and your options so you can make informed decisions.

What’s the difference between regular counselling and career coaching?

Regular counselling can help you work through a wide range of mental health and life concerns, while career coaching focuses more specifically on your career, education, and professional goals.
But here’s the thing: your career doesn’t exist in a little box separate from the rest of your life. Work can affect your stress, confidence, motivation, and overall wellbeing, while personal challenges can make career decisions feel even harder.
Career coaching gives you space to look at both the practical and personal sides of your career decisions.

Who can benefit from career coaching?

Career coaching may be helpful if you’re:
  1. Navigating a career transition: Looking to change industries or switch roles.
  2. Feeling stuck or unfulfilled: Experiencing burnout or a lack of direction in your current position.
  3. Evaluating growth opportunities: Deciding whether to take on a promotion, new responsibilities, or a job offer.
  4. Planning your education or early career: A current student or recent graduate mapping out next steps, or considering returning to school.
  5. Seeking better alignment: Wanting work that better fits your lifestyle, values, or personal strengths.
  6. Facing workplace stress: Dealing with work-related overwhelm, uncertainty, or confidence issues.

What does career coaching involve?

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to career coaching. Your goals are different from someone else’s, so your coaching should be too!

Career coaching may involve:
  1. Exploring your strengths
What are you actually good at? What skills and qualities do you bring to the table?
  2. Understanding your values
What matters to you in a career? Work-life balance, creativity, stability? Understanding your priorities can help you identify what you really want from your work.
  3. Exploring your options
Not sure which career, education, or work opportunities could be a good fit? Career counselling can help you consider your options and weigh what feels right for you.

Frequently Asked Questions about
Career Coaching

It can be, especially if you’ve been thinking about the same career problem for six months and are somehow no closer to making a decision.
Our career coaches are trained and experienced in helping people work through career decisions, changes and all the complicated stuff that comes with figuring out what you actually want to do with a very large portion of your waking hours.
Career coaching gives you an actual place to sort through what you want, what you’re good at, what matters to you, what you absolutely do NOT want to do anymore, and what your realistic options are.
Sometimes you need information. Sometimes you need a plan. And sometimes you need someone to point out that you’ve said “I hate my job” fourteen times in the last 30 minutes.

YES. You do not need to show up with three career options and a colour-coded five-year plan.

You can literally show up with, “I have no idea what I want to do, I just know I don’t want to do this anymore.”

We can work with that.

We’ll look at what you’re good at, what you actually enjoy, what kind of life you want your job to fit into, what matters to you financially, and which options make sense in the real world.

Because “follow your passion” is lovely advice until your passion pays $34,000 a year and you have a mortgage.

Yep. And we’re not automatically going to tell you to quit.

Sometimes your job really does need to go. Sometimes you’re burnt out. Sometimes it’s your boss. Sometimes the actual career is fine, but your workplace is terrible. Sometimes you need better boundaries, fewer responsibilities or a change that doesn’t involve dramatically handing in your resignation on a Tuesday.

We can help you sort out what’s actually making you miserable and what your options are before you make a major decision.

Absolutely.

Changing careers can be exciting. It can also make you question every decision you’ve made since grade nine.

Career coaching can help you figure out what you want to move toward, not just what you’re desperate to get away from.

We can look at your existing skills, other careers they could transfer into, what additional education or training you might need, your financial reality and what a career change could actually look like.

You do not necessarily need to blow up your entire life and start from scratch.

Honestly, there can be a lot of overlap.

Both can help you figure out career direction, make decisions, identify strengths, work through career changes and decide what comes next.

Career coaching tends to be more focused on practical career goals, decision-making and action. Career counselling may also spend more time on the emotional or mental health stuff connected to work, like anxiety, confidence, burnout or patterns that keep showing up.

At Rebound, we have mental health professionals who understand both sides, because unfortunately your work life and the rest of your life did not agree to remain separate.

Yes, and hating your job doesn’t automatically mean you picked the wrong career.

Maybe you’re overworked. Maybe your workplace is a mess. Maybe you haven’t taken an actual lunch break since 2023. Maybe you’ve outgrown the role. Or maybe every Sunday at approximately 4 p.m. you remember Monday exists and immediately become miserable.

We can help you figure out whether something about your current situation can change or whether it’s genuinely time to start looking at what comes next.

Yep.

Maybe you know you’re qualified but completely forget that the second someone asks, “So, tell me about yourself.”

Maybe you’ve been doing work above your pay grade for two years and still can’t bring yourself to ask for the promotion. Or you keep talking yourself out of applying for jobs because you don’t meet every single requirement.

Career coaching can help you get clear on what you bring to the table, communicate it without feeling like you’re bragging, prepare for interviews and have the career conversations you’ve been avoiding.

Yes, and we’ll look at more than whether the program sounds interesting.

Going back to school can mean tuition, lost income, childcare, commuting, two years of your life and suddenly remembering that group projects still exist.

We can look at what the education would actually qualify you to do, whether you need it for the career you want, other routes that might get you there, and whether the time and money make sense for you.

Because another degree is a pretty expensive way to avoid deciding what you want to do.

Yep!
